Vettaiyan box office Day 5: Rajinikanth’s film sees huge drop, earns Rs 5 crore

Superstar Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan saw more than 50 per cent drop in numbers on its first Monday (October 14) in theatres. According to the tracking website, Sacnilk, the action drama reportedly earned around Rs 5.25 crore. Though a decline in numbers during weekdays is expected, it could be alarming to see a drop of huge proportions. It is to be seen if Vettaiyan will regain its momentum in theatres.
Lyca Productions, the production house, made it official that the film earned over Rs 240 crore gross worldwide in just four days. The Tamil version has contributed majorly to this number.
However, on Monday, October 14, the film saw the biggest drop in numbers. It earned Rs 5.25 crore nett in India, which is almost Rs 17 crore less than the film’s Sunday (October 13) collection. It is to be seen if the film will pick up pace.
With widespread rains predicted across Tamil Nadu this week, Vettaiyan will face a huge challenge in its second week, which is crucial for any film. All eyes are now the film’s performance during the weekdays and on its second weekend in theatres.

Vettaiyan is an action drama, directed by TJ Gnanavel. The film features Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan, Rana Daggubati, Fahadh Faasil, Manju Warrier, Abhirami, Dushara Vijayan and Ritika Singh in pivotal roles. The film’s screenplay is jointly written by Gnanavel and B Kiruthika.
Bankrolled by Sun Pictures, the film’s music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander. Cinematographer SR Kathir and editor Philomin Raj are part of the technical team.
